Over 2,000 students from kindergarten through high school participated in the Dallas ISD fall chess tournaments, making it the largest districtwide chess program and chess tournaments in North Texas. Oak Cliff schools performed admirably, with numerous students achieving high positions in their respective divisions.
Thomas L. Marsalis Elementary STEAM Academy tied for first place in the K-2 category. Rosemont Upper Campus School placed third in the third grade division and fifth in the seventh grade competition. The eighth grade team at West Dallas' Dallas Environmental Science Academy secured third place. Townview reigned supreme in the high school division, with the School for the Talented and Gifted and the School of Science and Engineering claiming first and third place, respectively, at the 9th-10th grade level.
